FAC Winds, Brass, and Percussion Students: Continuing Successes
(Pictured: Jacob Lawler) Fine Arts Center Winds & Brass Chamber Music and percussion students are human dynamos, producing more than they use. Along the way they continuously produce accomplishments and make achievements. On February 4th and 5th, these FAC students participated in the School District’s All-County Band Festival:

Jay Bellanger, section horn (Wade Hampton HS, 11)

Additionally:
Jacob Lawler, Faith Russell, and Chris Askew advanced through competitive auditions to the State Band Festival. Jay Bellanger, a horn student of Paula Riddle, placed 2nd alternate.
Faith Russell recently both won the state and southern region Music Teachers National Association competitions, playing Suite Modale (Ernest Bloch) and Swiss Shepherd (Morlacchi), and Telemann’s 6th Fantasia. She advances to the national competition on March 28 through 30, held this year in Denver, Colorado. Faith is a private student of Mary AllyeB Purtle.
Peter DiLeo performed on marimba with the pop-string band Barrage on Wednesday, January 30th, during the concert and workshop they gave at Eastside High School.Bassoonist Chris Askew was the featured soloist with the Greenville County Philharmonic Orchestra during the Thursday, January 31st Winter Orchestras Concert held at Carolina High School. A private student of Mary AllyeB Purtle, Chris performed the first movement of Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in Bb.
