Musical Mondays?
YAO staff members and the GCYO Association are always looking for ways to make the Young Artist Orchestra a better orchestral experience and of higher value. They are also looking for ways to make some things easier, in this case, attending rehearsals.
GCYO has met on Tuesday nights since the early 1980s (since well before you were born!). In some ways, the community knows that Tuesday night is "GCYO Night" and accommodates us. In many circumstances, however their knowing this doesn't matter, and we have conflicts with school competitions, meetings, marching band, and more.
What would happen if we moved our rehearsals to Monday night? Would it be a better night for orchestra members? Worse? Are there some conflicts with school activities that we would eliminate, or would we simply exchange one set of conflicts for another? Would moving to Monday nights help your schedule or make it worse?
Please understand: we are JUST LOOKING AT this as well as MANY other improvements for 2009-2010. But, we really need your help! Please join our discussion by leaving your observations and insights below in the Comments section. We need all YAO members to respond! Thank you!

Tuesday is the best night for me; I have never had any conflicts on a Tuesday before. However, Monday is pretty much the worst night in the week (I get out of school later and I have a "theatrical" conflict at 7:30). PLEASE keep on Tuesdays!!!
This is the exact opposite for me, i almost never have anything scheduled on Monday nights and events such as extra credit plays and school ball games are always scheduled for Tuesday nights. Monday would be the best day for me.
There will remain some conflicts on either night. We will work with whatever is decided.
Like Alix Charpentier, we would be grateful if the practice remained on Tuesday nights, because it would be very difficult for us to come on Monday evenings. We are early to bed, early to rise people, so if there is ever a way to have the evening practice begin sooner and end earlier, we'd be very glad for that, as well.

Mondays would work great for me,as I usually have nothing scheduled on that night.
Thanks,
Joshua Anderson
Tuesday is a better night with regard to homework. It would be difficult to begin the week missing an entire night of study. I'd feel behind all week.
