Percussion Guest Artist Courtney McDonald

Greenville Symphony Orchestra Principal Percussionist Courtney McDonald was our Artist-in-Residence March 9-11. While Percussion I and Percussion II classes received outstanding instruction on rudimental snare drum, tambourine, and mallets, Advanced Percussion students, Josh Caprell, Nathan Colbert, and Moses Andrews all received individual coaching sessions on marimba literature. At the conclusion of her residency, Courtney, a triathlete and avid cyclist, joined Dr. Robinson for a spin over Paris Mountain. Below are pics of Courtney working with Percussion I and Percussion II students, as well as Dr. Robinson ready for action in his Super Hero Costume.

Nice, pics from your workshop, dad. Today in my own percussion class we worked on Tambourine. Perhaps I should stick to my stringed instrument...yikes...it's harder than it looks.

Awesome pic in the bike gear!! I am so impressed by how dedicated you are, and I am so glad you enjoy it so much :)

Love,
Chloe
