Greenville County Youth Orchestra began its 2007-2008 season with an "opening cluster" of rehearsals on August 21, 23, and 24. The 56-member ensemble is rehearsing Brahm's
Academic Festival Overture, Haydn's Symphony No. 104, and Saint-Saens's Cello Concerto No.1 featuring GCYO Principal Cello Seth Russell. The orchestra is currently preparing for its Young Artist Concert No.1, which will be given at the Peace Center's Dorothy Gunter Theater at 7:30 on Thursday, October 18. (Call the Peace Center box office at 467-3000 for ticket information.) To mark the end of the "opening cluster" the GCYO Association treated musicians and staff to an exquisite banquet and the hilarious entertainment of
The Distracted Globe, an improvisatory theater group based in Greenville. In the images below,Hiliary Ranieri, Haley Harteg, Sarah Hamilton, Linda Forrest, Holly Caprell, Valerie Hsu, and Stephen Bridgland all become a part of the act. (Many thanks to GCYO Association Publicist Bill Kendig for these images.)
