Suite 126 is Now Full of Bars

With nineteen percussionists attending classes starting August 20, FAC's already impressive collection of instruments needed to be enlarged, especially for use by our advance-level players and for Percussion II students who begin work on mallets in the second semester. Last week, we received our brand-new Adams "Soloist" marimba with Padouk wood bars. This is the same 4.3 octave instrument owned and enjoyed by current FAC student Rebecca Schillizzi, alumnus Ben Tomlinson, and recommeded to all of my students as an excellent starter instrument of their own. This bring FAC's mallet instrument collection up to five: 3 four-and-a-third octave concert marimbas (Musser, Deagan, and now Adams), 2 four-octave Musser Windsor-stytle instruments designed for practice, two xylophones, two sets of orchestra bells, a vibraphone and orchestra chimes. Our students are now ready for percussion ensemble music, individual lessons, and studio time.
